An Eerily Predictable Vision

IGRU BARZEL  אִגְרוּ בַּרְזֶל

 

IN 1993, when the Oslo fiasco surfaced, Jacob Gurewich,* author of The Enemy Within, published an article entitled: “It’s Time to Try Rabin, Peres and Beilin for Treason.” The piece appeared both in The Washington Post and in the Algemeiner Journal on Friday, March 10, 1995. At the end of the piece, Gurewich wrote: “How prophetic was Moshe Sharett, the second Prime Minister of Israel, when he spoke of Peres 40 years ago: ‘I said that I utterly reject Peres and see in his ascendance the most malignant form of political corruption. It will be a cause for national mourning if Peres becomes a minister in the government of Israel’

(Moshe Sharett, Personal Diaries, 1957).”

Gurewich continued: “It is time for the Jews in Eretz-Yisrael and in the Diaspora to cry: Enough! And bring the traitors to judgment before they and their ilk bring inestimable disaster upon the Land of Israel and the Jewish people. It is time for the lawyers and jurists of Israel to bring Peres, and Beilin to the bar of justice; to try them for allowing murderers into the heart of Israel and giving away the people’s inheritance to the sons of Amalek. It is time for the traitors to be judged in the High Court of Justice in Jerusalem, and their fate must serve as an example to generations of leaders to come.” In his numerous essays and open letters, Jacob Gurewich beseeched the settlers in the Land of Israel to: Igru Barzel!  

 

When I first interviewed him 12 years ago, I asked him, what on earth is Igru Barzel? He explained that in biblical times, Barzel (Iron) was weapons. In Ze’ev Jabotinsky’s novel Samson, Samson who judged Israel for 20 years urged the sons of Israel to gather weapons (Barzel) against their enemies. Gurewich urged the revered settlers of the Children of Israel to Igru Barzel. They would need weapons for confronting not just Arab murderers, but their own Enemies Within the Jewish Nation – the descendants of those who marched in the streets of Jerusalem and chanted in Hebrew  the Internationale. They would face such Enemies Within as Ben-Gurion and his ilk; the mentors of Peres, and villains such as Beilin, Barak and their coterie. Gurewich told me he was in Jabotinsky’s BETAR youth movement when he witnessed the Enemies Within marching in the streets of Israel, waving the red flag and chanting the Internationale.

Many years before the Holocaust, Ze’ev Jabotinsky, my mentor, beseeched the European Jews in the Diaspora and repeated his famous cry: If you do not eliminate the Diaspora, the Diaspora will eliminate you! Alas, our Enemy Within conspired with the evil British regime in the Land of Israel, who blockaded the shores of the Land of Israel against Jewish refugees. These poor souls had barely escaped extermination in German death camps, wherein a third of our Jewish Nation perished in 33 death camps in Europe.

In contrast to Jabotinsky’s vision and entreaty, the Enemy Within collaborated with the evil British regime and handed over our freedom fighters from the IRGUN and LECHI to the British hangman.” Gurewich himself narrowly escaped being hanged by the British, as he scrupulously detailed later in his books, The Enemy Within and Fear Factors.   

 

Excuse me, I interrupted him. I still do not understand what is behind the  IGRU BARZEL issue.

For a moment, looking at his expression, I thought he was about to tell me to go to hell. He looked straight into my eyes, and after a long pause in a vexing voice, said: “I see the settlers as well as the State of Israel and the Jewish Nation for that matter, facing a dangerous Enemy Within ourselves, more dangerous than the evil British who invented the Palestinians and the TransJordanians. The British viciously violating the decree of the League of Nations, tearing off   77% of the Land of Israel, crowning a Bedouin to watch over the Iraqi/Haifa oil pipeline. They, our Enemy Within, are even more dangerous than the 22 hostile Arab countries that surround the Land of Israel – which is barely discernable on the world’s atlas.

 

 

 

In 1948, Arab murderers with the aid of the evil British regime attempted to annihilate the fledgling liberated State of Israel--but failed. They were severely defeated by the survivors of the terrible Holocaust. (This, too, is scrupulously detailed in The Enemy Within and Fear Factors.)

After a long pause, Gurewich continued: “Our Enemies within ourselves are caving in to Israel’s pseudo friends--those who are petroleum-dependant. Petroleum was, and will always be, more important for them than Jewish blood. May our Enemy Within be remembered in shame and everlasting contempt! Hence, I beseeched the settlers: Igru Barzel! Gather arms, in order to resist, preempt, and vigorously react against the notorious policy of our own Enemy Within and   morons and turncoats of today--who joined the Enemy Within. They are only pretending that they value democracy. No! Democracy is like love, advocating it is only if you mean it and exercise it, which they do not!

The Enemy Within, including some of the religious factions like the Shas party and the leftovers of the so-called right-wing party, still have the Galutti Diaspora attitude, and a dependence on shnorring from the USA tax payers. In The Enemy Within as well as in the Fear Factors, Gurewich shows us how terrorism has been allowed to thrive today due to faulty decision-making by Israeli and U.S. leaders – along with the failure of the Jewish Nation to separate politics from religion. With careful analysis reaching to the biblical roots of the conflict, Gurewich outlines a multi-step plan to make Israel a stronger, more self-sufficient nation.

 

Thus, my brief interview with Jacob Gurewich ended on September 1993 in the town of Charlottesville, Virginia, where he resided at that time with his spouse Hanna Cohen Gurewich, a gracious lady. Her family in Israel, from her father’s side is natives of 7 generations in the Land of Israel. Hanna’s twin brother Nathan, was killed in one of the fiercest battles in the War of Liberation—as depicted In The Enemy Within pp. 63. Read his letters to his parents from the battle field in Gvilei-Aish, Parchment of Fire, an anthology produced by the government of Israel’s Ministry of Defense pp. 465.

 In his own words, Gurewich said:  “I exiled myself from the Land of Israel after the Shoah of the Yom Kippur War, and I pledged to fight them from here.” (As he detailed in The Enemy Within.) Later, I learned that he relocated from Virginia, back to his home town on Long Island.

 

12 Years Later:

I never forgot the brusque encounter with Jacob Gurewich 12 years ago in Virginia on the subject of Igru Barzel. I had long since moved from Virginia to Long Island, NY, happily married with two children. I was keenly aware of the dire situation in Israel, and it constantly haunted me. One day, at the entrance to Penn Station in New York, on my way home from my office to board the train to Long Island, I noticed a small folding table with a stack of pages, and a gentleman guarding it. I passed by and like other commuters, helped myself to a page and moved on toward the gate. Sitting on the train, I began reading the page. Its contents sounded very familiar.  Before reaching the bottom of the page I sensed right away that the author of this piece, called The Mantra, was indeed Jacob Gurewich. Then I realized that the man who stood behind the folding table was Jacob Gurewich--but it was too late to exit the train.

When I read Gurewich’s The Enemy Within and Fear Factors, along with his numerous essays on the Internet, I vividly remembered our encounter in Virginia. I was stunned to learn how keenly he predicted 12 years ago the very present dire situation in Israel.

Perusing his Orphaned Nation’s Kaddish, there is no need to read between the lines.

Occasionally we correspond, which gives me enormous first hand information and aspiration to write about the revered braved freedom fighters of the Irgun and Lechi; who fought against 3 enemies: The vicious British regime who blockaded the shores of the Land of Israel against refugees from the European hell,  against the Arab thugs (Knufiyot) incited by the British slave traders, the world’s champions of “divide & rule,” and against their own enemies within who collaborated with the British hangman during their despicable “Season period,” caving in to Arab thugs—as he scrupulously detailed in his recent books: The Enemy Within & Fear Factors.

 

July 2006: When the recent war broke out, I called him and asked if he would be so kind to meet. I would infinitely like to hear his admonition on the present dire war, which he so clearly predicted. The following is verbatim what he said to me when we met, as recorded on tape:

“Listen my friend” he said: “Where there is no vision, the people perish!  It’s one of the greatest opportunities that Israel may achieve to have peace for at least 40 years. Forty years as Judge Deborah wrote at the very end in her brilliant poem: So let thine enemies perish…as the sun goeth forth in his might…and the  land  had  rest  forty  years. (Judges, chapter: V: 31)

 

I remember I said to him…you have quoted Deborah’s poem in your book “The Enemy Within” when you introduced your Operation Code named: Ve’HaEsh (Vatishkot Haraetz Arbaim Shanah) to Moshe Dayan before the 1973 Yom-Kippur war, and when he asked you why forty years? You said: “I also do not believe that with the Arab murderers of today and of the days to come, who pledge to annihilate us, the Land of Israel, may not rest more than forty years.”

I wish I am wrong…he said, alas, presently it’s the enemy within who may cave in to pseudo allies reeking with petroleum, and to a corrupt United Nothing (nations) and to an hostile European Union and acquiesce to their pressure for a cease fire before destroying the entire murderous infrastructure of the Hamans in Iran and the Arab murderers hiding among civilians.

 

The only solution to defeat the Iranian Hamans and avoid a Shoah upon the Land of Israel, which is on the horizon, (that may proportionally result in a greater Shoah than the European one of the 1940s), is to apply right away the following without delay: Warn and caution promptly the “innocent” ci-villains who harbor the murderers, to vacate their homes and flee with their families--because their homes shall be destroyed to rubble. Defy the Codonleezas, the politicians who reek with petroleum, the Tony Blairs, the progenies of Father Coughlin and Gerald Smith such as the Bakers, and the apostate Robert Novak who they all missed key history lessons. Ban the despicable Neturei-chelatah (karta) cult from the Jewish Nation.

 

Do not stoop like the morons who say “what will the world say?” That’s the same “world” that deserted the Jewish people and collaborated with Hitler during the terrible Shoah--and the blood of millions of our grandparents, parents, brothers, sisters, children and babies cry unto us to this day!  Do not hesitate to defy the corrupt UN, the hostile EU, the pseudo allies reeking with petroleum, and the sponsors of the 22 hostile Arab countries surrounding you. Do not to anticipate miracles from outer space, because Av-Harachamim the Almighty God of Compassion is still Broyges (angry) at us and at the bloody world which He created. Do not to rely on pseudo allies and preempt! Do not to wait to retaliate! Destroy to rubble the rockets and the nuclear facilities of the despicable Iranian Haman, who publicly pledge to annihilate the Land of Israel.--if you will not destroy them they will destroy you. Don’t hesitate to preempt against the Iranian and Arab Hamans–of today, and the Iranian and Arab Hamans of the days to come, because they will come!   

Bow out from the corrupt United Nations, and blot out the doomed road-map, drawn by a quartet immersed in crude oil and Jewish blood. Ignore the hostile European Union, the descendants of the Inquisition, of the Hitler’s and Stalin’s, and utterly irrevocably rid the Land of Israel of homicidal Arab thugs and their ilk. In the final analysis, the Arab murderers supported by the Iranian Haman and Syrians et al, are determined to annihilate Israel. So the only way to avoid another Shoah Israel should publicly deliver an ultimatum to Arab murderers, to the Koffikos in the corrupt “United Nothing” (Nations) and to the International [hostile] community:

If Arab dictatorship-governments, who support and harbor the murderers in their homes, do not disarm them within 14 days and make them stop the terror upon the Land of Israel--they will be responsible for huge destruction, and “innocent” Arab ci-villains who harbor the cowards may perish. Be wary, Israel will blot them out; they will burn and be devoured by the fire. And as per the adage: “For those wise, a clue is sufficient.” Be wary world, the years of persecutions, Inquisitions, pogroms, blood libels, and Arab murderers who want to annihilate the Land of Israel—are over! No one on this planet shall ever imperil us! Let it be ingrained in the ears of the children of Israel, and I will say it again and again: Where there is no vision the people perish! The vicious cycle of the homicidal thugs, Moslems’ hatred of the Land of Israel, of Christians and infidels will never ever break; it’s hard wired into their brains. The State of Israel and the Jewish Nation shall never ever allow the existence of an Arab country within the Land of Israel, which is hardly a dot (.) on the world’s Atlas, and the world shall never ever see an Arab state in the heart of the Land of Israel!”

Thus, concluded my meeting with Jacob Gurewich on July 24, 2006, in the midst of a raging war between Israel and Arab murderers--sheltered and hiding among “innocent” ci-villains in Lebanon. Before we parted, Jacob Gurewich gave me a framed poem entitled: The Cup of Anguish and Consolation.
